Split, second largest Croatian city,is not only the main urban, cultural and
traffic center of Dalmatia, but a frequent target of tourists and
excursionists. The city with 1700 years of existence, numerous archeological,
historical and cultural monuments, with a famous Diocletian's palace, are
merely a part of the world heritage of UNESCO, the city with warmth of a modern
Mediterrannean city. Due to its rich history, one should be aiming at its
museums: Museum of Croatian archeological monuments- major project of Croatian
culture founded in Knin in 1893, Archeological museum from 1820.
