Plitvice lakes

Plitvice lakes are the most famous Croatian national park, listed on the UNESCO world heritage list. It is an afforested area with 16 beautiful lakes, each at a different level so that water cascades from one into another in a series of extremely beautifal falls with crystal acquamarine colour. Besides its forest and lakes, the park abounds in caves, springs, flowery medaows, and among rare animal species the central position is taken by brown bear. The tall forest, partly with primeval forest features, offers a variety of flora and fauna. There are numerous bird species, game, does, bears, wolves, boars, wild cats, and in its waters trouts. Hunting, fishing and swimming in the lakes are banned here.
